Resizing your images and how to use Fast Stone.

LETS GET DOWN AND DIRTY

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO CREATE A ‘NEW FOLDER’ IN MY DOCUMENTS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

You will need to know how to do this – it is basic but if you don’t – here goes.

Go to

My Computer –> C Drive –> My Documents –>

"in the top toolbar menu under the blue horizontal banner right at the very top left of the screen you will see

FILE ___ VIEW ____ EDIT ____ FAVORITES ___

Click on FILE –> New –> New Folder….

Create the new folder and give it a suitable name. To name the folder you will see that the "new folder’ text appears in a blue highlighted box – just click on that text area and type your name choice.

Now… thats done.

THIS IS FOR THOSE WHO ARE TOTALLY NEW TO ALL THIS RESIZING THING.

When you go out with your digital camera and take pics – the actual size of them, the picture you have just taken and it is stored on your cameras memory card … is probably bigger then the monitor screen you are now looking at.

What you ask? Well – for the purposes of you making a high quality, high resolution print of your pic you have just taken it needs to be big. When it is compressed for printing it will come out at “Womens Weekly” quality printing. Not “coloured Newspaper” quality printing.

Now another example of pictures being big is when you go onto a website and often you come to a website that takes forever for its pictures to download on your screen. They just tick, tick, tick, a line at a time down. You could make and drink a cuppa while you wait for it to open.

Well that is because the file size of the image is too big. (it should of been resized down to accommodate quick loading) It is resized for showing, not for printing.

Another example of what I am talking about. You get an email from Aunty Joyce with pics attached of the last Birthday Party. The email takes forever to open and when it does – you see 3 humungous pics where you have to scroll across and down to see the pics – they wont fit on your bloody screen they are so big.

That is because the pics should of been resized.

That is where this program is of great assistance and easy to use.
