C17 The Excursion Train – Latest artwork by Jeff Quigley – For the life of me I could not obtain a good quality photo but I am happy with the finished painting and more importantly the client loved it.
This was / is a commission piece. It is from a supplied old photo of the C17 Heritage Steam Locomotive that plied our local railways many decades ago.
Well before my time in Emu Park there was a branch line from Rockhampton to the Coastal Town of Emu Park. I do remember taking my young children to watch the last steam train run from Yeppoon to Rockhampton and standing on Ellrot Overpass (halfway to Rockhampton) and watching the train pass. I am told that the C17 did the coast run many times.
The last train I saw was not the one in the painting, it was a black locomotive. The painting is of the C17 Heritage Locomotive. (You can google image the train)
