Another painting finished and again, well ahead of schedule … Night Drive CQ is the title of this piece.
Apologies for the hopeless quality of the photo. It is just a proper B for me to get a half decent shot.
Night Drive CQ (CQ stands for Central Queensland), acrylic and Gloss Black on canvas, framed and rather large at 79cm x 79cm.
Decided to have a bit of experimenting with this one. I always paint with acrylics but I wanted to create a shine / reflection to the bonnet of the vehicle. I thought I would get the old black gloss spray paint can and give it a crack. I think it worked out okay.
I had a wonderful time with the light beams, high and low range, now that was fun. You can’t see it in the photo but there is actually car tail lights off in the distance. Of course the customary bullet holes appear in the ‘roo’ sign.

Re this Night Drive CQ painting, I hope to have it accepted in the late January 2026 Members Exhibition. I am aiming for one or two more works. See how I go. I thrive on pressure and deadlines. (yeah right)
Currently there is a Fantastic Members Exhibition at the EP Gallery from Wednesday through to Sunday 10am to 4pm. It finishes on the 25th January. There is a great Gift Shop there too, stocked with great works from local artists.
